Artist.
For Shane Prince, creativity has always been about expression, exploration, and the freedom to see the world differently.
A lifelong hockey player, Shane enjoyed a 14-year professional career, including four seasons in the National Hockey League with the Ottawa Senators and New York Islanders. Over the past decade, his career took him overseas, where he lived and played across Europe and beyond, including Switzerland and Russia. Those years of international travel and immersion in different cultures would ultimately become an important influence on his artistic journey.
It was during his professional hockey career that Shane discovered painting as a creative outlet. What began as a way to unwind, clear his mind, and escape the demands of professional sports gradually evolved into a genuine passion for artistic expression.
For Shane, art is a way of translating thoughts, emotions, and energy into something tangible. His work embraces bold colors, imaginative subjects, playful details, and unexpected perspectives, often blending elements of nostalgia, fantasy, and contemporary expression.
Created in different corners of the world, his paintings reflect a life shaped by travel, new experiences, and an ever-evolving creative perspective. Each piece carries its own story, influenced by the places he has lived and the inspiration he has discovered along the way.
Following his retirement from professional hockey in 2026, Shane has entered a new chapter, dedicating more of his time and energy to the creative pursuit that has accompanied him throughout his career.
His artistic philosophy remains rooted in a simple belief: art is one of the purest ways to turn what we feel into something we can see.

Artist Statement.
For me, painting is about capturing energy and turning imagination into something tangible. It’s a way to clear my mind, express what I’m feeling, and create without boundaries or expectations.
I’m drawn to bold colors, unexpected subjects, and the nostalgia of different times and places. I love the idea that a painting can transport someone to a particular moment or era in their life, bringing back a feeling, a memory, or an emotion they may have forgotten.
My hope is that each piece carries an energy of its own. Whether it makes someone smile, sparks their imagination, or takes them somewhere familiar, I want my work to create a connection that goes beyond what’s on the canvas.
